Last week, over 100 staff members from across India gathered in Bengaluru's Koramangala to celebrate DriveU’s first decade.
Founded in 2015 in Bengaluru with a three-member team, what began as a local startup has grown into one of India’s leading tech-driven, on-demand private driver service.
Over the last decade, DriveU has facilitated over 8.5 million trips and continues to play a pivotal role in the evolving gig economy. A part of DriveU Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd, DriveU has recorded over 3 million app downloads, served over 2 million users maintains a strong presence in major Indian cities, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Pune, and Coimbatore.
“As we celebrate our completion of 10 years of operations in India, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. To our dedicated driver partners, our valued customers & investors, thank you for placing your trust in DriveU,” said Rahm Shastry, CEO and co-founder of DriveU.
"Over the past decade, we’ve transformed what once seemed like a dream — car owners having drivers at their fingertips – into not only a reality but a daily habit. We are just at the beginning of unlocking its full potential to redefine convenience and everyday living for the next decade,” he added.
A Decade of Changing Consumer Habits
Since its inception, DriveU has observed significant shifts in how urban India moves. The demand for outstation trips has steadily risen, while bookings to avoid drinking and driving have nearly doubled. Today, hiring a driver for the daily office commute has become second nature for many, a transformation DriveU has helped shape.
On the B2B front, DriveU has partnered with leading used car platforms, OEM service centers, and insurance companies to enhance their operational efficiency.
In 2025, DriveU is projected to cross Rs 100 crore in annual turnover, with significant growth in both its B2C and B2B categories.
"The B2C category remains central to our mission to revolutionise access to private drivers in urban India. Our focus is on making the experience faster, easier, and more personalised. By scaling and diversifying our offerings, we’re building one of the largest online mobility marketplaces in the country," added Shastry.
Driving Impact Beyond the Ride
Since 2015, DriveU's growth has been powered by its dedicated driver partners, who have collectively earned nearly Rs 300 crore through the platform.
DriveU have successfully organised an otherwise unorganised service market, enabling professionalism through training programs in traditionally ‘blue-collar’ roles.
“As we reflect on our first decade, DriveU has built a tech ecosystem that not only connects millions of customers with verified drivers, but also empowers driver partners with flexible earning potential. But we believe that our responsibility does not end at just partner earnings. Our success lies in creating real value, for both customers and our driver partners. Going forward too, we will continue to evaluate areas where we can do more,” said Shastry.
As India’s cities grow and lifestyles evolve, DriveU remains committed to making daily mobility safer and smarter. Here's to the next ten years!
